I use a range of methods depending on the individual needs and I operate a confidential service. I have experience of working with adults and working with children in a school setting.
I have a special interest with working with Neurodiverse people and have trained in a specialist play therapy called Autplay Therapy devised specifically for Autism and other neurodivergent people. I have been successful in offering pre screenings/assessments for Neurodiverse conditions within school settings and have been successful in having many children placed on the CAMHS Neurodevelopmental pathway for full assessments. This is something that I can offer privately also.
I trained at Leeds Metropolitan University and completed in 2010 a Diploma HE Counselling and Therapeutic Skills (Relational Approach).
I also have vast experience in working with Looked after/Adopted children and their families and am DDP level 1 (Dyadic developmental psychotherapy) trained.
I am Autplay Therapy trained and have over 30+ additional hours of training in Autism and ADHD.
I initially from 2007 worked with adults, at what was known then as Leeds Counselling Services up until 2013. From 2013 I began working with children and the service changed names to Northpoint Wellbeing.
Currently at salford uni doing my PG Cert Supervison in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Helping Professions.
A good counsellor is someone who can use compassion, empathy, respect and authenticity to form a genuine, trusting relationship with their clients. This is what I will endeavour to do whenever we are in contact.
